1. Eelde Flower Parade
The Eelde Flower Parade was first held in 1957. Each year more than 3000 volunteers are involved in preparing the floats of flowers with a mixture of dahlias and cut flowers.The presence of extravagant dancers covered in face paint and the rhytmic beats makes the Flower Parade much more than just a flower show. You can enjoy this cultural event during the first weekend of September.

2. Drenthe Four Days of Cycling
Most of us know that the province of Drenthe is a real cycling province. That is emphasised once again during the Drenthe Four Days of Cycling event. In the first week of the northern region school holidays more than 20,000 participants set out for a four-day cycling marathon over their chosen distance between 30 and 100 kilometres.
3. Kuna Festival
The Kuna Festival is a four-day festival of art, music, theatre and nature that annually is held in mid-summer. The festival takes place at a beautiful site in Dwingelderveld National Park. During this festival, many different forms of art and culture can be enjoyed, all of them taking place in the middle of the green scenery.
4. Dutch TT at Assen
The Dutch TT at Assen is the annual motorcycle racing event held at the Drenthe TT Circuit near Assen. This is a major event for all fans of motorcycling, taking place on the last Saturday in June. During the week before the day of the race, the TT Festival takes place in Assen, which showcases different aspects of motor sport. There is a fairground, there are concerts, and of course the TT Night before the day of the race.
5. Meppel Thursday
Street theatre, live music, canal concerts, markets and a large parade with decorated floats of vehicles. They are all part of Meppel Thursday. This is a touristic event held each year in the city of Meppel on six consecutive Thursdays during the summer holidays, well-established locally since 1960.
